Evaluation of ERC funded projects

European Research Council (ERC) has published a new independent study on the impact of ERC funded projects. A random sample of 223 projects for start-ups and advanced grants was evaluated from a total of 470 completed projects.

According to the study, 79 localhost of the projects had a major impact of which 19 localhost led to a breakthrough and 60 localhost to a significant scientific progress. Almost half of the projects have had an impact for the economy, society and policymaking, in the medium and long term the number is to increase to three quarters of the projects. A significant number of the projects are interdisciplinary, with 70 localhost of the projects creating an innovative interaction between domains.
