New InvestEU Programme to support jobs, growth and innovation in Europe
06/11/2018
The European Commission released a proposal for a new €15.2 bn. InvestEU programme. InvestEU will bring together the multitude of financial programmes currently available and expand the successful model of the Investment Plan for Europe, the Juncker Plan. With InvestEU, the Commission aims to further boost job creation, investment and innovation.
The InvestEU Fund supports four policy areas – sustainable infrastructure; research, innovation and digitisation; small and medium-sized businesses; and social investment and skills.
The InvestEU Fund should support for instance investments in higher-risk activities such as research and innovation, assessed as still inadequate, to support the industrial and economic competitiveness of the Union and the quality of life of its citizen.
